The Pfaff overlock is actually a grouping of 3 different Pfaff sewing machines. And I use that term fairly loosely when I say sewing machines, because Pfaff’s sewing machines can actually perform so many more tricks and techniques than just simple sewing. This is doubly true for Pfaff overlock machines.
In case anyone coming here is not familiar with a Pfaff overlock machine, I’ll just spend a minute discussing what an overlock machine does. An overlock sewing machine stitches the edges of one or 2 pieces of fabric, creating edges, hems or seams. Oftentimes, an overlock sewing machine will cut the edges of the cloth as well as it is fed through the overlock sewing machines. Such machines are called sergers.
Though in common usage, overlocking is also called overedging, merrowing or serging, although strictly speaking, serging is used to define overlocking with scissors or cutters. An interesting factoid, is that the work “merrowing” comes from the company that first invented overlocking. Overlock stitching was invented in 1881 by the the Merrow Machine Company an American company.
Okay, so that’s what an overlock machine does. But let’s draw our attention back to the Pfaff overlock sewing machine, or the options that Pfaff overlock offers. The three we’ll discuss are the Pfaff hobbylock 2.0, the Pfaff coverlock 3.0 and the Pfaff coverlock 4.0.
The Pfaff hobbylock 2.0 has many features which make overlocking very easy. Here are just some of the benefits of this Pfaff overlock. You can create overlock stitches on a variety of fabrics such as velvet, denim and others. Additionally, the overlock stitches will mover with the fabric if it stretches. So your overlock stitch is perfect every time. The Pfaff hobbylock 2.0 also allows for adjustable stitches, 15 different stitches and a freearm for sewing pant legs and sleeves.
The Pfaff coverlock 3.0 offers easy hemming, with the machine finishing the edge and creating a double stitched hem on the top side. The coverlock stitch allows for easy finishing of both neck lines and arm holes. You can also sew with up to 5 different threads, all automatically adjusted to the ideal tension for your ease of use. You also get 23 different types of stitches with the industrial strength of the safety stitch, so strong it will hardly ever break.
The Pfaff coverlock 4.0 is the last of the Pfaff overlock machines to discuss and we’ve saved the best for last. This overlock sewing machine offers a high definition LCD touch screen which gives you all the information you need at a glance. The coverlock 4.0 will also remember your last stitch so you can power down and take a break and come back starting where you left off. You can also choose from amongst 5 different speeds. Depending on the rush you are in!
Those 3 Pfaff overlock sewing machines should give you plenty to choose from and all 3 of them include serging. If you want to get back to the home page click on Pfaff 260.
